How it Works
Solar pool panels are made of black polyethylene that is very efficient at absorbing heat from the sun.
Temperature sensors on the roof and in the pump detect whether heat is needed and available. If so, a motorized diverter valve will divert the water through the panels on the roof before returning it warmer to the pool. That's all there is to it!

A properly designed system will keep the pool at 80-85F in all but the coldest days of the year. These times are more associated with weather events than the calendar. For Florida, that usually means times when a cold front has come down, with cold winds or extended rain. These are times when there is not enough heat on the roof for the system to operate. As soon as the cold winds stop and the sun is out, the system starts heating your pool again - for free!
